Social Sciences is a relatively new department at the school and is going from strength to strength, with pupil numbers continuing to grow. Sociology, Criminology and Psychology are expanding subjects at A Level, with a high level of student take-up. As a result, we are growing our department and looking for a Teacher in Charge of Sociology to join us from September 2024.
The aim of this role will be to provide strong leadership within the department. Curriculum leadership experience would be an advantage, but aspiring leaders are also encouraged to apply. The role could suit an experienced sociology teacher looking for a new challenge. We welcome applications from both independent and maintained schools.
We're a happy, well-resourced school in an outstanding setting. Applicants will need to demonstrate strong subject knowledge, contagious enthusiasm and an effective, nurturing teaching style. A willingness to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school is essential.
In return, you can expect all the benefits of a thriving independent school: a competitive salary, pension, professional development, cycle scheme, lunches in term time and free parking.
Further details of the role and how to apply can be found under the 'working at Claremont' via the button below.
Applications will be reviewed upon receipt. We encourage early applications for this role and will contact suitable candidates to arrange a time for interview.
We are an equal opportunities employer and are seeking applications from suitable candidates from all backgrounds. We are fully committed to creating and sustaining a positive and supportive working environment free from discrimination where staff feel valued and respected. We value individuality and diversity and believe in equal opportunity for everyone.
Claremont Fan Court School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
