Northwood College has an exciting opportunity available for a Teacher of Classics to join our leading academic day school and to be part of an exceptionally creative, warm and supportive community.
We are looking for candidates who have the drive and motivation to contribute to the development of our growing department.
The ability to teach A Level Classical Civilisation and/or Latin would be an advantage.
The Department:
The Classics Department consists of three teachers and has grown significantly over the past decade. All teachers in the department have an opportunity to teach across the year groups and courses, ensuring variety, motivation and CPD opportunities for all. Our materials and resources are revised on an ongoing basis, and there is a chance for all members of the department to contribute to this. We have a large Classics Office and storage space with a wide range of books and teaching resources for all abilities, from Junior School to University level.
We also offer extra-curricular activities including Classics Club, Latin Surgery, a Classics Week and a variety of university essay competitions. We take advantage of the many opportunities for trips into central London, which includes visiting the British Museum and UCL & KCL’s annual Classics plays. Many of our students also opt to join our residential trips to Italy or Greece.
About the School:
Northwood College for Girls is an independent, academically selective day school for approximately 880 girls aged 3-18.
Both pupils and staff are encouraged to find and develop their passions and talents, through clubs, societies and an extensive programme of CPD. All members of the NWC community are expected to act with compassion and integrity, with respect for others and the environment and an awareness of global responsibility.
NWC is at an exhilarating moment in its evolution, with a dynamic and ambitious Senior Leadership Team and a range of new developments (including a Sixth Form Centre and the Alvarium science building). The successful candidate will be similarly ambitious for the school and ready to make an impact in our vibrant learning community.
