Job description

If you are an outstanding Performing Arts teacher, or determined to become one, we would very much like to hear from you.  You will be able to teach acting and singing and / or dance and be able to direct Performing Arts productions.  You will join an excellent team, strongly committed to reflecting on its teaching techniques and sharing excellent resources.  CTECH Performing Arts is a growing subject in the College and part of the 13-teacher Performing Arts Department.

The department is bursting with opportunities, including exciting extracurricular activities. We organise numerous trips and workshops each year and take the students to perform in local venues such as: MAST, The Point, and Romsey Abbey, as well as holding full scale productions in our newly refurbished Rose Theatre. Wider activities include music concerts, the highly successful Dance Company, National Theatre Connections projects and performances at the Concorde Club. Our enrichment programme offers students the opportunity to play instruments or sing in ensemble groups, take LAMDA exams, join our college Stage Crew and perform in our Dance Live Team. The Performing Arts department puts on approximately 15 shows a year as part of the curriculum, including one major production, involving around 100 students. This production is open for auditions to students from any department.

The College

OFSTED has judged Barton Peveril to be Outstanding across all four key judgements: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.

You will be joining a college that achieves excellent student outcomes and is focused on continually exploring and reviewing the most effective teaching and learning strategies. We enjoy a long established reputation for looking after our students and taking an interest in young people as we prepare them for a successful future through a broad education.

We are committed to investing in the continuous professional development and training of our staff, and to their wellbeing. We know that, to a very large extent, it is because of the remarkable talent and dedication of our staff, that Barton Peveril is now one of the largest and most successful sixth form colleges in the country.
