To start as soon as possible.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills and future career by joining our vibrant and innovative Secondary School.

Mercia Academy is a 11-16 school based in a small town close to the Peak District and near to the cities of Derby and Nottingham. We are delighted to be part of the school rebuilding programme; we move into temporary accommodation on site in the Autumn Term and to the permanent new build in 2027 are looking forward to the opportunity that will offer to further improve our academy and the life chances we provide for our students.

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic MFL teacher to deliver our effective new curriculum for Spanish to pupils of all ages and abilities. The right candidate would be dedicated to raising achievement through the delivery of outstanding lessons. As part of the wider Communication Faculty, you would support collaborative working to create a vibrant and exciting learning environment.

We offer a wide range of professional development opportunities and are in the process of joining the Lionheart Trust giving wider opportunities for support and sharing good practice. We have a track record of recognising potential and developing leadership within school with internal promotion and other opportunities.

The school prides itself on the wide educational experience offered to students, including the exciting RISE programme in Year 7, varied enrichment opportunities through our PRIDE Award and a curriculum that supports success in academic and vocational qualifications. All students have personal laptops and staff maximise the opportunities offered through this technology, including Spanish specific programmes as part of the curriculum and for home learning.

We recognise that a journey to academic success requires a breadth of specialist support, and our school ethos and core values mean that students benefit from a team approach where quality teaching is supported by our clearly defined behaviour policy and enhanced by strong, intuitive pastoral support.

Please apply using the attached application form and include a letter outlining your suitability for the post. We welcome visits and are happy to discuss the role further. Please contact Jacky Scott hr@merciaacademy.org.uk to arrange a visit or with any enquiries.

Please ensure your completed application is returned no later than 9.00am on the Closing Date.
