About us:

Progress Schools is part of The Progress Group, the Group is made up of six business units, each of which aspires to innovate, influence, and inspire others through high-quality and purposeful education and training. Progress Schools is a national group of 13 independent OFSTED-regulated schools.

At Progress Schools – Northampton we support approximately 35 pupils on roll to ensure that we can provide ample opportunities for children who need a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment, specifically for those who will reintegrate back into a mainstream setting. The school consists of a core team of the Head of School, Deputy Head of School, up to seven teachers, and five support staff. Further support is also provided by regional and national staff, who work with a number of schools across our group.

About the role:

As a Teaching Assistant, candidates would need to demonstrate an understanding of stages of development and individual needs. They must also be able to give positive encouragement and feedback to ensure pupils are reaching their full potential.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting all students throughout the school in a 1:1, whole class support or outside the class capacity
  • Continuing the altruistic work of the Progress Group
  • Giving the pupils the chance to either get back into mainstream schools or progress into a sustained Post 16 pathway
  • Contribute to a positive ethos for learning
  • Overtly promote the values and achievements of the school to the community
  • Be aware of and follow the company Equality, Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policies
  • Have and create high expectations of staff and students

Expectations within the role:

  • Assist the teacher with writing and monitoring pupil learning plans.
  • Review and implement interventions which enable pupils to understand and meet their targets.
  • Support with the delivery of learning activities in the absence of the teacher.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other practitioners, drawing on their strengths and expertise to best support teaching and learning.
  • Adapt to pupil and school requirements on a day to day basis.
  • Work with all staff to address pupils’ barriers to learning.

Requirements before applying to the role:

  • GCSEs in Maths and English C or 4 grade and above (or an equivalent)
  • Experience of working within an education setting or equivalent.
  • Experience working with vulnerable pupils

Here at Progress Group, we are passionate about developing our staff as well as our students.
