Nugent House School is the main education element of Nugent Care, one of the largest charities in the Liverpool City Region, focused on supporting those in need. The charity goes back 140 years, founded by Father James Nugent, an early advocate of social justice in the city.
Nugent House School is an independent special school, registered for up to 60 students aged between 7 and 19. Pupils are referred to the school by their local authorities in response to their needs not being met in other educational provisions. We currently have students referred from the vast majority of ‘close’ local authorities (St. Helens, Warrington, Knowsley, Lancashire, Halton, Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton & Trafford) as well as further afield (L.B. Newham). Many students have experienced significant negative prior experiences of education, including extensive periods of non-attendance.
All students at the school are placed with an EHCP, with SEMH identified as the primary placement need.
We offer education to a wide range of pupils with a variety of additional needs. We take great pride in helping them achieve their potential and support them either on a one to one basis or within a small group.
