Job description
A large secondary school in Taunton requires a specialist SEND learning support assistant to work within the school's autism resource base. The resource base is brand new and very well managed with a friendly team! They are looking for someone who is team player, calm, patient and reliable and can follow instruction. A good sense of humour is a must and the ability to adopt very quickly as and when needed. The ideal SEND LSA will have experience working with secondary aged students. The School are looking for someone with experience working with young people with autism and Asperger's Syndrome. This can be a very challenging setting, so knowledge of behaviour management techniques is a must. You will be supporting students on a one to one basis, either within mainstream settings or separately in the base. The facilities in the base include a sensory room and garden, a forest school and links with The Prince's Trust. In addition, the training provided by the school and within the base is second to none, this would be a great role for both an experience Teaching Assistant or someone looking to develop their skills. This is a full time, temporary role (8:30am-3:30pm), 5 days (Mon-Fri) a week. This role is initially on a supply basis through Axcis, but it has the potential to become permanent.
