Team Leader
Edge of Care Service

Salary: £50,550 - £60,506 per year
Hours: 36 per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead an Edge of Care team based in Edinburgh. Edge of Care focusses on supporting children, young people and their families to stay together, within their communities when it is safe to do so.

Edinburgh is committed to care away from family being a short-term option to alleviate crisis and allow ‘space’ to plan interventions with a focus on remaining at home with family where possible.

The team takes a multi disciplinary and integrated approach and therefore needs a leader who understands partnership working across a number of disciplines. The team needs a leader committed to developing our practice and improve service delivery, working with families to assist them to find solutions and be included in decisions that affect their lives. The service will also be developing an emergency residential and outreach support model that provides intensive family support for the whole family with the aim of reducing the number of children and young people being accommodated away from home for long periods. The service is for children and young people aged 12-17 years. The team will offer intensive outreach support and emergency short term care within an identified emergency house.

Team Leaders play a key role in early intervention and residential services, supervising and supporting the professional development of a small team of Assistant Team Leaders, residential childcare officers and developing good working relationships with social care workers and teams. The role will also involve manging crisis referrals, therefore sound decision making is necessary.

Team Leaders are part of a management team taking responsibility for delivering a high quality service that achieves good outcomes for children and families, and play a key role in service development. The successful applicant will be an experienced leader who has a sound knowlEdge of practice involving children in need of Care and protection, early intervention and looked after and accommodated children. Candidates should also have experience of managing, supervising and/or mentoring social work personnel.
