AWE is currently recruiting for a Team LeaderProcess Architects and Systems Engineering
The Process Architect and Systems Engineering team works within the Capability project to establish, integrate, and maintain the processes and supporting documentation that apply across all parts of the product life-cycle, and work with the engineering communities using PLM to provide problem resolution, guidance, and governance. The team also provides Business Analysis and Systems Engineering expertise directly into the Capability projects, delivering new capabilities into the business.

Salary: £44,990 - £65,000 (dependent on experience)

This role will require you to manage a technical team; applying the sub-functions strategy and provide effective guidance as the main contact point for all team members, Team Leaders and the Engineering sub-functions. You will be required to maintain a technical capability that delivers critical skills and resources aligned with business requirements to deliver the integrated technical programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Defining and managing the team's operational plans to ensure delivery of all Engineering Processes, Governance and Front-End Systems Engineering
Accountable for leading, coaching and developing a team at a local level to deliver team and personal objectives safely and securely to meet our operational plans (First Level Leader)
Assessing staff performance, measured against agreed personal objectives and accountabilities, and taking corrective action to improve performance where necessary via appropriate management interventions
Providing Systems Engineering knowledge and technical expertise in the field of technical specialism
Ensuring that the work undertaken by the team and/or teams is consistent with AWE strategy, policies, processes, procedures, and quality standards
Working within the Capability project to establish, integrate and maintain the processes and supporting documentation that apply across all parts of the product life-cycle
Working with the engineering communities using PLM to provide problem resolution, guidance, and governance
Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and be a great team player
Additional accountabilities for this job profile may be defined and appointed through the Chief Engineer Management Arrangements, with appointees listed within the Company Design Authorities and Technical Authorities, as held in the company management system
The successful Candidate will have excellent stakeholder management skills and be able to interface between the Chief Warhead Engineer, PLM communities and the wider Engineering workforce.
Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
In depth understanding of business processes and being able to deconflict high priority projects
Experience of successfully managing a high performing and motivated team
Proven track record of driving delivery, performance, and continuous improvement
Excellent decision making and problem-solving abilities
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
Competence in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
ONC/HNC in scientific or STEM discipline, or equivalent NQF level 4/5 qualification
Qualifications equivalent to Membership of a professional body or equivalent experience
Great people and organisational skills are essential as is an ability to drive delivery, performance, and continuous improvement. An in-depth understanding of Business Processes and Systems Engineering are essential.
Project Management skills and knowledge of associated tools are a strong advantage. Training on the job can be provided, as required.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
