The London Borough of Merton is seeking an enthusiastic experienced Team Leader for the Licensing & Enforcement team. You will be one of the first members of a completely new team that is being created within Housing Needs & Strategy to implement the Borough’s Selective and Additional Licensing scheme stretching over 7 Wards. Salary/Grade – ME15 - £48,867 to £51,903 per annum inclusive +Essential Car Allowance
As Team Leader of the new Licensing and Enforcement Team, you will be a HHSRS practitioner who is confident in their experience and expertise when it comes to enforcing standards in the private rented sector. Leading your newly formed team with extensive knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and licensing matters, you will play a key role in delivering the Council’s strategic priorities relating to improving property conditions and housing standards in the private rented sector. As the leader of a new team, you will be confident in delivering high quality, licensing services for our customers, utilising the Council’s IT and other resources effectively to ensure that corporate and national targets are met. This role would be ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their career.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with clear knowledge and understanding of licensing and enforcement in private sector housing or similar regulatory compliance processes and the role of local government in this. Someone who is able to think creatively, manage complex cases, whilst being responsive to and supporting the work of the enforcement and Licensing Officers they manage. As Team Leader, you will be able to review and resolve service complaints and enquiries, utilising web-based services, Council data, and other sources of information to support the enforcement activities of the team, leading the on-going development and review of processes and procedures for Selective & Additional Licensing.
