A temporary opportunity has become available for a Team Support, within the Innovation team which includes responsibility for Communications and Project Management Office within the Innovation team, based at Castle Donington or Bristol.
The team are investigating how to create the networks of the future, and test ideas to help us achieve Net Zero through a portfolio of innovation projects. Working with a wide variety of partners at the cutting edge of new technologies and services means that no two days are the same.
Reporting to the Innovation Manager, you will be responsible for general support and assistance for the Innovation team and cover will be required for a period of 6 months, with the potential for extension, subject to review. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge that are valued across NGED.
You’ll need to be a good communicator who thrives in a busy environment and can bring excellent organisational skills. Representing the company to customers and our partners, working at the heart of a small team also requires lots of initiative and a proactive approach.
As part of our hybrid working approach and in line with our policy, this role allows you to apply for a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.
You will need English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above OR Functional Skills Level 2 or above to apply. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities
Monitor policy and governance document renewals, review dates and co-ordinate updates, ensuring these are implemented to timetable.
Provide assistance to other team members with new policy or project documents, as well as updates and renewals of existing policies or project documents.
Production, updating and monitoring of innovation project plans / databases / spreadsheets.
Coordination and completion of Project Management Office activities.
Assist with administration, preparation and reporting of innovation proposals, in accordance with Regulatory requirements.
Ensure the template Project Management Documentation is up to date and according to branding and Governance.
Coordinate the team’s branding work and liaise with other National Grid teams.
Support and assist with Innovation projects and tasks as required.
Assist team in dealings with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Liaise with customers to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
Update team databases and records and manage the team’s mailbox.
Resolve customer enquiries and complaints, wherever possible directly, referring difficult enquiries or complaints to the Manager.
Organise, plan and deliver virtual and in-person events.
Lead the social media programme of the Innovation Team.
Control of finance within the team and as part of Project Management Office activities, using NGED systems and processes
Identify opportunities for improvement in performance and recommend changes.
Other tasks appropriate to the grade.
The Ideal CandidateYou must be able to communicate effectively both verbally, and in writing, with customers and other team members and must be able to represent the company positively at all times.
You must be reliable, well organised, enthusiastic and able to work as part of a team. You must be able to work using your own initiative.
Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
