The Opportunity
To support the day-to-day maintenance and operational requirements, specifically in the electrical engineering field, to ensure safe and reliable operation of the plant.
Pay, benefits and culture
The salary range associated with this role is between £40,069
- £71,779 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. We also offer an attractive pension scheme along with some great company benefits. This is a full-time, permanent position based on-site at Heysham 1 Power Station.At EDF, everyone’s welcome. What you’ll be doing
Principal Accountabilities:
- Analyse and provide engineering solutions to plant defects and where necessary provide plant modifications and solutions to plant problems.
- Investigate and identify plant faults and prepare instructions for their rectification. Manage routine and defect maintenance, ensuring that plant is maintained and modified in accordance with the site licence and maintenance fundamentals.
- The candidates should possess appropriate Electrical experience and ability applicable to the maintenance and modification of electrical systems specific to AGR power plant and associated electrical ancillary plant including Actuators, Transformers and Gas Turbines and HV equipment and switchgear.
- Take an active role in all team activities to ensure full compliance with agreed safety and environmental standards and expectations, ensuring that all activities, including supervision (Field Supervisor) of contractors, are carried out with full regard to Site Licence requirements, statutory regulations, Company and location directives and Safety Rules. Ensuring activities comply with operation experience feedback requirement (where appropriate to team).
- Maximise effective use of time and personal ability; working flexibly within own range of competence, undertaking the appropriate training and development to extend skills and abilities to meet the needs of the business and the department.
- Achieve Authorised Person Sanction for test to enable the successful candidate to lead HV testing of various plant items on site.
Who you are
The successful candidate should be enthusiastic and a flexible team player, with good communication skills, educated to a minimum HNC/HND or Degree level in Electrical Engineering.

Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
