Technical Architect

Description

We are seeking a Senior Technical Architect to join a dynamic team within a prominent public sector organisation, dedicated to transforming corporate services through advanced technology. This pivotal role contributes to the evolution of systems supporting the government’s crucial work, ensuring they align with modern standards and practices.

This role is based in Edinburgh and can be performed mostly from home, but we are seeking candidates based close enough to the office to attend infrequently.

The Role:
As a Senior Technical Architect in the Transformation Design and Architecture Division, you will play a key role in defining the technology architecture for new corporate services. This involves integrating cloud-based solutions, addressing complex integration challenges, and adhering to security best practices. Your expertise will be vital in developing strategies for seamless technology transformations, encompassing SaaS solutions and modern digital techniques.

Responsibilities:
· Define and elaborate on the target technology architecture for new corporate/shared service solutions, emphasising SaaS and cloud-based services.
· Develop comprehensive integration strategies, ensuring effective implementation to guarantee successful transformations, addressing security and operational concerns.
· Apply modern software engineering, infrastructure engineering, test engineering, and DevOps techniques in the context of predominantly using SaaS solutions.
· Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical teams within different directorates, divisions, and shared services organizations to manage technical aspects of transformation across the enterprise.
· Manage relationships with technical solution suppliers, ensuring technology and integration requirements are met, and contribute to procurement activities when necessary.
· Facilitate skill development within the team for effective integration, testing, and operations of various SaaS solutions, employing modern digital techniques and tools.
· Provide technical input to policies and standards related to integration and technology, offering support and advice to policy colleagues.

Requirements:
· Proven experience in designing integration architecture for corporate services, particularly in a cloud environment.
· Implementation expertise in integrated Finance, HR, and Payroll/ERP systems, including large-scale data migration and intricate integrations.
· In-depth understanding and practical application of digital engineering practices, covering software engineering, infrastructure engineering, test engineering, and DevOps.
· Leadership experience in multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating with business users, suppliers, and exposure to large-scale transformation programs.

Package on Offer:
· Initial contract of 6 months with the option to extend.
· Inside IR35.
