This is an amazing opportunity to be a Technical Artist at Oxford Medical Simulation.
In order to save patients’ lives doctors and nurses need the most realistic opportunities to practice (especially low frequency, high risk situations). Who you are:
You’re a Technical Artist with at least 3-5 years of experience, and have worked on a released project
You’re humble - a team player and always learning
You have a real eye for the details
You love telling stories through environment
You want to create art that reflects the real world in all its glory - from labor wards to back alleys and everything in between
You want to work on a platform that is pushing the limits
You want to use your skills for good
You have these essential skills:
Strong experience with Unity, C#
Expert Knowledge of Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Photoshop, etc.
Strong knowledge of in game engine character animation and IK
Expert texture creation skills
Eye for lighting, shade, color and detail
Advanced / expert knowledge of Unity
Strong understanding of PBR lighting models and its interaction with materials
Experience writing shaders for real-time rendering
Blockout models
Environment construction
Assets creation
Visual effects
Lighting, Collision, Scripting, Shaders
Production pipelines and project structure
Experience with art and code versioning software
R&D and tool production
Bonus points for any of the following
Intermediate scripting experience with Python or Mel/Maya API.
Knowledge of and experience with Final IK
Knowledge of and experience in game optimization
Knowledge of and experience with motion capture
Experience with Perforce and Git
Experience with Atlassian Tools, such as Jira and Confluence
Experience managing a team of internal and external team members.
What you will be doing:
Sculpt high-resolution and game-ready photoreal assets
Rig props and characters to be able to take on real life range of motion
Setup character IKs and Animation state machines in the game engine
Setup environments in Unity, incl. lighting and shaders
Environment concept and design - research and understand real world reference
Optimise content through enhancing workflows and instructing other artists on asset creation best practices through all facets of production
Integrate new technologies into art workflows.
Oversee asset and meeting budget (memory and performance).
Research and oversee the implementation of rendering techniques such as normal and specular maps, particle systems, and pixel shaders as well.
