Soho Farmhouse...

Surrounded by 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside, Soho Farmhouse is a destination for food and drink, wellness and outdoor activities. Two hours' drive or a short train from London, we have 114 bedrooms, including cabins, huts and farmhouse bedrooms to stay in, a state-of-the-art gym, Cowshed Spa, an indoor and outdoor pool and cinema. We have multiple food and beverage outlets on site, The Main Barn is the central hub, serving the club menu all day. On the mezzanine, Comfy Farm has sofas and an open fire place, while Fancy Farm is a more formal setting for lunch or dinner. There is also Pen Yen for Japanese izakaya-style dishes from the robata grill, bind and sashimi, and Blake's Kitchen for fresh bread, sausage rolls and cinnamon buns. Finally, there is The Little Bell, a local favourite, for nose-to-tail cooking and natural wine.

The Role... 

At Soho House, our Technical Assistants play an integral part of ensuring member, guest and staff have seamless and stable experience across multiple venues and houses.

As a Technical Assistant, you will manage our cinemas with scheduled and private screenings, support staff with technical help and assist on smaller projects as directed by the Technical and IT Management or other members of the IT Services management team, along with AV support on events using mixing desks, video play back and recordings, production lighting, and live music.

A successful Technician is self-motivated, can think quickly on their feet and thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment. You will be a critical thinker with great people skills and a knack for making things work!

What We Are Looking For?

  • Willing to learn and develop as a team and independently with in house training and hands on experience.
  • Detail oriented and ability to multitask, under pressure and trouble shoot quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiar with Digital Projection Equipment or equivalent.
  • Technically competent and confident to support computer, Internet, software and network security needs.
  • Experience with AV lighting, sound, minor repair, installation of AV equipment.
  • Flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of sound systems, DJ decks, mixing desks & consoles, phone systems, and IPTV infrastructures, equipment and technical specifications.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload.

Main Duties...

  • Operate Cinema in all film and digital video formats and liaise with clients regarding technical needs and assist in presentation set ups within the Cinema and areas of the property.
  • Monitor in house equipment and usage as well the presentation, preparation, repair and dispatch of films is effective, cleaning and maintenance of projection equipment, diagnose and solve problems, liaising with Service Engineers and Contractors as appropriate.
  • Daily support for audio, visual, IT related troubleshooting and partnering with the events team to ensure lighting, sound, music and all other variables are set-up, secured and prepared prior to guests' arrival.
  • Respond to guest's needs in a timely matter and quickly provide solution or alternative option that can enhance one's experience.
  • Proactive support through routine checks, audits, and site visits, as well as document, and advise on all projects that are in progress, complete, or require outside support.
  • Maintain safe standards, in addition to a clean, organized, and stocked work area with consistent high-quality service throughout the property.
  • Liaising with in-house couriers, print managers and keep up with technical developments in relation to cinema and multi-media equipment, systems, etc. and technical training opportunities.
  • Evaluate and flag software, hardware, processes, and configurations if they are not in line with best practise, legal requirements (e.g.: PCI-DSS, GDPR), company standards, and H&S.
  • Use the installed ITSM tool (Cherwell) and vendor reports to track and report on incidents.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and proactively seek to reduce the number of tickets by recommending the removal of underperforming vendors or identifying kit/software that may fail.
  • Collaborate with US, Europe, and Asia house IT support teams to deliver a consistent global approach.
  • Collaborate with the Service desk team to ensure support calls are managed and effectively triaged through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and development of ITSM tools.
  • L1 & L2 support and troubleshoot issues
    • Business applications: cloud, hosted, and on-site.
    • Software, Network connectivity, Wi-Fi, Telephones, printers, TVs, Sound systems
    • Building access control, REDs/ PDQs, Zoom Rooms, Device support (Laptops PC/MAC, iPhones, iPads)

Expected working hours for a Bar Manager:

  • This role embodies an unconventional workday and may require, nights, and weekends to support screenings and large-scale events.
