One day you could be liaising with one of the world's largest airframers, and the next, some of the biggest airline brands around the world!In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England. We are now recruiting for a Technical Author to join the existing team in Newport. In this role you will be responsible for the creation and maintaining of all technical publications related to Safran Seats GB products. Reporting to the Lead Technical Author, you will work with the rest of the team to produce and revise documentation, in line with business and customer schedules. What makes being a Technical Author at Safran special is the variety and scope of the work you will see. From the very first flight of a Safran product, maintenance instructions must be available to the customer. As the product matures, design improvements can be made available to the customer, via the technical documentation we provide. Working within the Aftermarket team, we have the benefit of supporting a product throughout its whole life cycle, from first flight, to last. Key responsibilities and duties include:
• Writing and illustrating:
o Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs)
o Service Bulletins (SBs)
o Service Information Letters (SILs)
o Installation Documents
• Investigate and respond to queries from both internal and external stakeholders
• Work closely with the aftermarket engineering team to devise and communicate a solution to the customer in a timely manner. Degree/Diploma qualified (or relevant experience) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Excellent working knowledge of structured authoring packages (SGML and XML data)
Able to organise, prioritise and achieve objectives
Have the ability to think strategically whilst being comfortable employing a hands-on approach
Ability to communicate at all levels
Demonstrate technical understanding and enthusiasm Nice to have:
Experience working within the Aerospace Industry
Working knowledge of ATA iSpec2200 and S1000D procedures and specifications
Experience with Epic Editor SGML, XML Editor, WebX software suite
Working knowledge of illustration software such as IsoDraw and manipulation of Catia V4/5 data
knowledge of ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English No candidate will meet every single desired qualification.
