About the Role

Base Location: Perth, Glasgow or Leeds preferred

Salary: £53,100 - £79,700 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSE Thermal Engineering and Asset Management (TEAM) have an important role to play in driving growth for the business through the delivery of flexible, efficient and low carbon assets. TEAM is responsible for providing innovation and technical governance for Large Capital Projects and operational assets. The asset engineering and project teams are central to delivering this service through provision of agreed technical and design strategy and management of design and maintenance activities and resources through design, construction, operation and through to decommissioning.

The Technical Authority Manager is a key role within the Asset Management team structure, you will be responsible for ensuring that engineering governance processes and tools are developed, maintained, and applied in line with relevant standards.

As Technical Authority Manager, you will fulfil the requirements to manage and support Asset Integrity of our operational fleet and work closely with TEAM and across the Thermal business.

Key Responsibilities include;

- Maintaining and developing a suite of governance processes and tools that meet the requirements of the Asset Integrity Framework.

- Ownership of Technical Standard Framework.

- Chair the Technical Standard Steering Group in line with the agreed Terms of Reference.

- Ensuring governance for the asset integrity programme is applied consistently across all operational assets where TEAM is Technical Authority.

- Implement and facilitate Technical Assurance Audit regime.

- Chair monthly reviews, ensuring that all stakeholders are presented with adequate information to enable decision making on High Consequence Asset (HCA) management and key risks.

- Point of contact for operational site teams, maintaining alignment with Engineering processes / Assurance Frameworks.

- Working closely with Design Authority manager to ensure alignment and optimisation of design and technical standards.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in a leadership role managing high performance, multi-discipline teams with a reputation for excellence in delivery.

- Good commercial skills with the ability to negotiate with, and influence stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.

- Chartered Engineer and member of Engineering Council preferred but not essential.

- Extensive experience within an engineering environment, and strong understanding of Thermal Generation and Gas Storage business.

- Experience in the development of engineering standards and asset management.

- Excellent communicator across all levels with both internal, and external customers and stakeholders.
