Technical Coordinator

We have a great opportunity for a Freelance Technical Coordinator to work on two commercial projects in Cambridge, interested?

• Position: Technical Coordinator
• Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
• Day rate: £ negotiable and dependant upon experience
• Contract type: Freelance
• IR35 status: Out of scope. Applications from candidates with their own limited company are welcome.
• Start date: March 2024
• Duration: 12 months (happy to talk about permanent opportunity)

The projects:

Two projects based in the Cambridge region with a combined value of £24million.

• Scheme 1: Cut & carve refurbishment with major new build extension £13m to create a new build commercial complex with CAT-B fit out.
• Scheme 2: New build £11m commercial office complex with CAT-B fit out

The role:

As the Technical Coordinator you will be

• Producing technical schedules
• Responsible for the management and delivery of design information in line with agreed design programme and deliverable schedule for projects due to commence on site and in progress.
• Ensuring appointed design consultants and engineers carry out their duties in accordance with their appointment.
• Attending and chairing necessary meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Value Engineering to achieve desired outcomes and maximise project profitability.
• Working collaboratively with pre-construction and delivery teams.
• Ensure design is compliant with planning conditions and legislative requirements.

About you:

• Previous experience in the same or similar role is essential for either a developer, contractor or consultancy.
• Sound technical knowledge of design packages and ability to input at key project stages including consultation selection, procurement and project delivery.
• Educated to degree level or HNC/HND in a relevant discipline.
• Candidates with a background in Architecture are very desirable.
• Understanding of the construction process involving JCT forms of contract
• Experience of working on multiple projects running concurrently with values in excess of £5m would be an advantage but not essential.
