Do you have technical embroidery skills and knowledge that you would like to share with others?
We are looking for casual support with demonstrating specialist technical and practical processes within Embroidery to support academic programmes at our campus at Locksbrook Road.


About the Role


This casual opportunity is to support students in their work during working hours Monday through Friday. This casual role offers flexibility and exact working patterns will be discussed dependant on candidates availability and demonstrating delivery needs.
Typical duties will usually include, preparing resources and equipment in the Embroidery Workshop, demonstrate complex technical or practical techniques to individuals or groups of students to support lecturing and individual project work, run demonstration workshops.
You would be responsible for the Health and Safety compliance in all respects for the working environment for those using the workshop facilities. Maintenance and repair of equipment, and upkeep within the workshop and resources related to the subject. This may include industrial flatbeds, Juki free embroidery machines, overlocker, Seiko walking foot leather machine, steam press and domestic Berninas. Maintaining stock in the Embroidery store with fabrics and trims relevant to the machinery and to workshop users. Liaising with Academics and other members of the team to provide technical support for relevant skills to be delivered.
Exact responsibilities may vary depending on candidates experience and demonstrating delivery needs.


About You


The successful candidate will be able to evidence the following skills and experience.
Knowledge and skills in Embroidery and stitched surfaces for Fashion and Textiles, including the use of equipment including industrial and domestic machines. Knowledge of fabrics and fibres and current textile technologies and trends.
Prior practical knowledge of some or all of the following machines is an advantage, Juki free embroidery machines, flat beds, overlockers, Seiko walking foot leather machine, steam press, Berninas, and digital embroidery machines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with other staff, student, departments and external organisations is essential, along with the ability to work well as part of a team and have the ability to manage your own time with limited supervision.

This is a Casual Position. £16.76 per hour.
