Technical Fire Protection Manager

Hours: Monday – Friday Office Hours

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per year

Location: Chesterfield

Contract Type: Permanent

 

Due to continued growth and expansion we are currently looking to recruit a Technical Fire Protection Manager to join our business in Chesterfield on a permanent basis.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage passive firestopping projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.
  • Compliance Assurance: Stay up to date with current fire safety regulations and standards in the UK, and Europe ensuring that all passive firestopping systems meet or exceed these requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, including design review, material selection, and installation methods, ensuring optimal Fire Protection measures are implemented.
  • Team Management: Oversee a team of technicians, providing mentorship, training, and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality workmanship, compliance with safety protocols, and effective resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to coordinate project activities, resolve issues, and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure that passive firestopping installations are completed to the highest standards, performing regular inspections and audits to identify and address any deficiencies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, progress reports, and compliance certificates, ensuring proper record-keeping and regulatory compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry advancements and emerging technologies in passive Fire Protection, actively seeking opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation within the department.

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Level 3 – Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection (or similar)
  • Quality Orientated.
  • Client Facing Experience and Skills.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge.
  • Written and Oral Communication Skills.
  • Problem Solving Capability.
  • In-depth Knowledge of Fire Protection Standards.
  • In-depth Knowledge of the Service Delivery Capability
  • Degree in fire engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in managing passive fire stopping projects, ideally in the construction or Fire Protection industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK/European fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards related to passive Fire Protection.
  • Strong technical expertise in passive fire stopping systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in managing and motivating a team of technicians.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented mind-set with a focus on quality control and continuous improvement.
  • Professional certifications such as CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of relevant software and tools used in project management and documentation (Bolster system for example).
