Job description

We supply all the major supermarkets in the UK. We also supply convenience and travel retail outlets, discounters, coffee shops, foodservice, and other retailers. We have strong market positions in a range of categories including sandwiches, salads, sushi, chilled snacking, chilled ready meals, chilled soups and sauces, chilled quiche, ambient sauces and pickles and frozen Yorkshire Puddings.

This is a dynamic and innovative field, which therefore brings many technical challenges relating to how we manufacture our many food products. We want to ensure that we are developing skilled technical personnel able to respond to the demands of an exciting business and become the future technical leaders focusing on Quality Auditing, Process development, technical services or Factory hygiene work.

As such, this role is perfect for any graduates that have a passion for food and are keen to learn about all of the moving parts that go into making our food safe, legal and consistently high quality for consumers.

We're looking for our next generation of Technical Leaders to develop and grow a career with Greencore. As a graduate, you will have the opportunity to gain experience across a number of sites to become a multi-skilled technical professional, with experience in a breadth of environments, developing your skills in key aspects of the Technical function.

What you'll be doing

You will complete two placements in technical functions at a minimum of two sites over an 18-24-month period. You will gain experience in our Quality, Process, Hygiene and Technical Services functions, and develop and own a project plan during the programme.

Your responsibilities could include:

  • Sample, test, audit and monitor to verify that all processes, procedures, and products are being manufactured in a safe & compliant manner.
  • Plan, prepare and conduct factory trials which involve running our products through a factory line to check that they are suitable for large scale manufacturing.
  • Undertake recipe/ingredient validation and packaging tests in line with Technical procedures.
  • Plan and execute audits ensuing we are adhering to customer and legal requirements.
  • Collate, investigate, and report on queries that come in from our retailer customers.

You'll be assigned a dedicated mentor to help you work on your personal development plan. Your mentor will be able to guide you in making the most of the experience and exposure opportunities of the graduate programme and create a clear development plan towards your goal end role.

We firmly believe it's our people who deliver our performance which is why we place so much emphasis on colleague development and career progression. Our programme has been created with this in mind and therefore offers additional courses and opportunities to develop both your technical and fundamental soft skills and become a fully rounded professional.

What we're looking for

We are looking for you to have a passion for food, and people. You will also be:

  • Passionate about working as part of a team and have an ambition to have a long-term career in the food industry.
  • An eye for detail and committed to working to a high standard.
  • Resilient and equipped to take change in your stride.
  • Curious, organised and able to use your excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.

To join our Technical Graduate programme, you will need:

  • A degree or MSc in Food Science/Technology, or another food or science related discipline
  • The right to live and work in the UK.

Our operation is 24/7 so you will be required to work shifts. These will vary depending on site and could include early starts from 5am, rotating night shifts and weekends.

As this role provides the opportunity to work at different sites as part of your rotation, you will need to be geographically flexible and open to travelling.

If this sounds like you, join us and grow with Greencore, and be a part of driving our future success.
