Are you looking for a rewarding role in flood risk management and to support the understanding of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and best practice in surface water management? About us
The flood risk management team in Oxfordshire County council delivers the responsibilities of the Lead Local Flood Authority. We work in a collaborative way with other Risk Management authorities and communities to fulfil those roles and to develop opportunities to manage flood risk. We support the Council in its work around climate change adaptation and making infrastructure resilient to flooding now and in the future.
About the role
The purpose of this role, and working with the SuDS Team Lead, will be to develop the team technically and provide the LLFAs response to new development as part of our statutory consultee role:
• Delivering the LLFA statutory duty to respond to major and high risk planning applications.
• Providing significant technical advice to colleagues in relation to sustainable drainage policies and strategies. Including the development of technical standards.
• Maximise income by promoting pre-application advice.
• Managing the operational effectiveness of the service, ensuring timely delivery.
• Working with colleagues identify and evaluate the opportunities for savings, efficiencies and income generation aimed at improving services and delivering new revenue streams.
The role will look to support all elements of the teams work in managing flood risk including strategies, plans, investigations and practical measures. This role will lead and be integral to developing the key technical expertise on surface water and Sustainable Drainage Systems and will look to develop the role of the team within and outside the County Council.

You should enjoy delivering high quality responses and engaging with other teams such as planning and highways. You should be interested in assuring others work and improving technical capabilities of a team.
