Job description

We are currently recruiting a Technical Manager for a local food manufacturing company in the Blackwood area.
To organise, manage and control the full technical remit of the company including quality and compliance and responsible for ensuring that the development and implementation of technical systems make sure that the products meet the quality, safety and legality standards required by the customer and all relevant food legislation.

Monday-Thursday 8am-16:30pm
Friday 8am-15:30pm
39 hoursMain Duties and Responsibilities:
Champion and lead Governance and Risk Management for all things Food Safety: including research and monitoring emerging issues through horizon scanning.
Be the first point of contact for Law Enforcement Agencies (e.g. EHO, Trading Standards, Food Standards Agency, etc.). Write and publish monthly technical reports for the exec & senior leadership teams to highlight current and emerging risk and relevant corrective actions. You will also lead the face-to-face discussion meetings.
Oversee, direct, develop and continuously review food safety standards across all stores ensuring all areas are compliant with EU and UK regulations.
To plan organise and manage the Quality Assurance within both sites ensuring full implementation of the Quality Manual Procedures, including HACCP and QA procedures to the required company standard.
To lead the annual BRC Audit and maintain both sites BRC accreditation status.
To lead and manage customer and regulatory body visits to the factory and be the first line contact for enquiries from local authorities.
Conduct incident management for internally or externally raised food quality, safety and legality issues and be a key tention to detail.
Lead the company's HACCP team and ensure reviews are conducted to keep up to date with NPD, factory, ingredient, or equipment changes.
To effectively manage the Technical and Compliance team. Organise team meetings, conduct performance reviews and take care of training and development activities. Ensure consistent QA approach across the shifts and sites and encourage a positive working relationship with other departments
To manage the sites Technical KPI's and arrange meetings to communicate trends and consequent actions and be supportive to production teams to assist in closing out actions.
To undertake internal BRC Section and QA audits when required. Ensure that records are kept, and action points are progressed in a timely fashion.Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Ideally educated to a degree level in food science, food technology or food safety related discipline.
Previous experience in a Technical Manager role within the food environment.
Good understanding of Allergen Control, TACCP and VACCP.
HACCP Level 4. Experience of being HACCP Team Leader.
Experience of leading BRC audits on site.
Internal Auditor training, lead auditor preferable.
To demonstrate an understanding of internal Technical KPI's.
Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels both verbal and written.
