Technical Operations Engineer (It Support)

HMP Northumberland are recruiting for a Technical Operations Engineer.

As a Technical Operations Engineer, you will provide technical support for all IT and technical systems within the prison to ensure all hardware is operational. You will also provide software support which may involve guidance or training to enable all staff to operate the systems correctly and support the smooth running of the establishment.

HMP Northumberland offers a variety of initiatives and programmes to help residents engage within the prison’s rehabilitative culture. This includes various educational and vocational qualifications, as well as a variety of opportunities for residents to learn new skills within our workshops and industries departments. We have textile, engineering and electrical workshops and can offer prisoners experience in horticulture, market gardens, cleaning, waste management and laundry services on site.

As a working prison, we work towards the resettlement of residents upon their release into the community and their integration into society through the skills acquired while in our care. We are committed to supporting people to change their lives for the better and lead law-abiding lives.

Being over 4 miles in circumference, the prison is a vast space with exceptionally kept plantation and currently houses over 1300 residents with a range of sentence terms.

Package Description£25,500.00 - £28,500.00 dependent on experience.

Post holders will be subjected to an advanced DBS check, a prison security check (level 2) prior to being employed.
Main Responsibilities
Management of all site incidents, ensuring all they are either resolved or escalated as appropriate. 
Production of documentation  for the prisoner education network (where applicable) 
Support of all ICT systems on site, including but not limited to; SJS, education and healthcare networks. CCTV, Cell Call and alarm systems and telephone system 
Management of imaging and PC deployment process for the site ensuring all new PCs/Laptops are imaged and configured according to the documented process. 
Support colleagues and covers leave/absence on site and remotely, as is necessary 
Following agreed procedures, assist customers in a pleasant and professional manner. Maintaining accurate log entries of requests with fault details and contact information 
Management of smaller local IT projects e.g. office moves, rollout of asset replacement PCs to agreed timescales 
Support all software and hardware issues, including management of AD and O365.

The Ideal Candidate
First-rate knowledge/familiarity with MS Office (2016 and office 365) 
Excellent knowledge of Windows 7 & Windows 10. 
Knowledge of Windows Server, 2012, 2016 & 2019. 
Knowledge of ITIL.
Previous experience in a First Line Systems support or similar IT role would be advantageous .
