Due to continued growth at PGR Advisory, we require an experienced Technical Report Writer to work within our specialist Research and Development team.

This exciting role will involve liaising with client companies to obtain technical project information and to understand their cutting edge technologies to collate and articulate into reports. Our client base ranges from new starts to multinational PLC’s. Our clients are based throughout the UK, so the position will require some travel. You will be responsible for working with technical minds within those companies and translating their ideas into a format that can be understood by HMRC and government assessors. This is a varied role, that involves working across many different innovative industries.

Ideal Candidate

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering, science, technology or software related discipline.
  • A minimum of two years experience in a technical role
  • Must understand technological advances and uncertainties and how these concepts are applied.
  • Ability to work with SME’s to blue chip companies.
  • Attention to detail is a must, as is willingness to learn new concepts and methods of working.
  • Must have a keen interest in technology and the ability to question and determine R&D activities specific to industry sectors and companies.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of at least one technology sector.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Courteous and professional individual with a desire to grow within a team and further your career within a fast paced corporate environment.
  • Ability to work with clients across the UK and travel across the UK and have a full driving license.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.

Your experience

You will have prior experience in a similar role in documenting technical information, working within private sector industry and working within a team with a successful track record of meeting deadlines. You will understand the importance of client care, and hold the ability to work with and be empathetic with all role levels of clients. You will have a good understanding of technical concepts across various industries and are confident and competent to have technical discussions with clients, face to face and over teams meetings.

Main Responsibilities

Compose Technical Research and Development Reports as required, to meet HMRC guidelines, for clients across a wide spectrum of UK industry sectors. These reports will detail technical uncertainties, work performed and technological advancements.

Planning and Organising:

  • Management of all client specific HMRC and Anti Money Laundering information as required to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Manage and coordinate client meetings as required to identify qualifying R&D activities and costs.
  • Plan day-to-day activity within the monthly workflow schedule.
  • Schedule all report writing activity as required to ensure that progress on work plan objectives is not interrupted or delayed.

Report & document collation

  • Liaise with clients to identify primary sources for R&D project narrative.
  • Collate a comprehensive account of clients R&D projects within the HMRC guidelines (full training programme provided)
  • Develop detailed narratives across all sections of the report as per PGR Advisory best practice.

Resource Management and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning, client management and identification of qualifying projects.
  • Plan and manage day-to-day resources to ensure the report development and completion runs to time and meets submission deadlines.
  • Management of the submission approval process.

Internal and External Relationships:

  • Manage client experience and expectations.
  • Present regular Technical Report progress updates in addition to qualifying cost identification with external clients.
  • Identification and development of new clients and business opportunities.

Competencies

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft office packages including Excel, Word, Sharepoint and Teams

Benefits

  • £30k plus dependant on experience, you will also be eligible to participate in the company bonus and pension scheme
  • Free on site parking.
  • 30 days holiday per year including statutory holidays, which will increase after 3 years service

Working hours

  • 8am to 5am Monday to Thursday,
  • 8 am to 1pm on a Friday
