What you’ll do

Sky’s Technical Resilience Team is a group of highly-skilled professionals who are dedicated to ensuring the continuity of critical business functions and technology systems in the face of any disruptions or challenges. Comprising of Technology specialists with experience in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, engineering, testing and project management, the team is committed to ensuring Sky has a robust and resilient technological ecosystem that minimizes risk and maximizes operational readiness.

  • Reporting to the Group Head of Technical Resilience, you will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of Sky’s Disaster Recovery program, helping to protect Sky from disruptions to its products and services via assuring continuity of our critical technology.
  • You will be responsible for defining what good looks like and for the development, implementation and management of a Group wide Disaster Recovery framework that focuses on testing the resiliency, continuity and recoverability Sky’s critical technology.
  • Using your knowledge of end-to-end service mapping, you will work with Technology Service Owners and the wider Technical Resilience Team to assess existing levels of Technical Resilience and develop comprehensive disaster recovery plans for business and technical service offerings.
  • You will lead and coordinate regular testing exercises to validate the effectiveness of disaster recovery plans, resilience capability of critical technology. Your exercises will help identify areas for improvement and check that Sky’s critical Technology is compliant with our Technical Resilience Policy.
  • Via post incident reviews and results of pre-planned testing you will monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), such as recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs), to continuously measure and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the disaster recovery program.
  • Via Sky’s Risk Management process, you will raise risks and vulnerabilities you identify.
  • You will also provide input from the Disaster Recovery workstream into the wider Technical Resilience Team’s reporting to senior management and as required lead strategic workstreams that improve the delivery of the program.

What you’ll bring

  • To be successful in this role, it is important to have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • You’ll have 5+ years of experience in Disaster Recovery, which will include creation of strategic end to end road maps that depicts when critical systems will be tested, creation and ongoing management of disaster recovery documentation and delivery of end-to-end resilience testing in a multinational, matrixed organization, including failover/ failback.
  • You will be an expert in understanding how technology delivers a product or service via use of end to end service mapping.
  • You should have a deep understanding of resilience and its value, plus its relationship with other risk-based disciplines such as Security, Health, and Safety, Business Continuity, Crisis Management, and Threat Intelligence. You must be comfortable working with members of these teams and be able to advise them on Technical Resilience as required.

Your office space
Osterley
Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There are also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
On campus, you’ll find 13 subsidised restaurants, cafes, and a Waitrose. You can keep in shape at our subsidised gym, catch the latest shows and movies at our cinema, get your car washed, and even get pampered at our beauty salon.
Leeds:
Our spacious tech hub is under a mile away from Leeds train station. There’s plenty of parking in the surrounding streets and at the nearby CitiPark.
