Job description

We are recruiting for a Telecoms Support Engineer on a permanent contract paying up to £39,563.21 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based at one of our main BTP hubs London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or Cardiff.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

As a Telecoms Engineer you will manage all incidents, tasks and requests for support and guidance from users of the VoIP and legacy fixed voice and Teams Voice UC environment, you will manage all telecoms moves and changes and ensure Force dial plan is managed accordingly.

As a Telecoms Support Engineer you will also manage operational voice recording and call logging and provide end users training on an ad hoc basis. You will be working with the telecoms specialist on projects and managing telephony fall back and Disaster Recovery.

You will predominately provide admin support for the Microsoft Teams estate alongside some legacy fixed phones and be responsible for the installation, support and the decommissioning of legacy devices and new Teams based UC devices covering 5 separate call centres, you will also be responsible for VoIP call handling on the ICCS, call logging reporting and licence reports for the contact centres and end user telephony.

Ideally we are looking for someone who has :-

  • Good experience of working with UC Technologies, Avaya, or similar VoIP solutions Teams Administration, building and configuration desk, and contact centre phones within an emergency service or similar safety critical environment.
  • Good experience of working with suppliers to support and provide specialist technical support to a national organisation of users and stakeholders.
  • Good experience of incident resolution, requests, changes and problem solving are delivered to agreed SLAs.
  • Some experience working with legacy voice infrastructure and with extensive building Local Area Networks.
  • UK Driving Licence would be beneficial.
