Hourly rate – £22.00 to £24.50 per hour (PAYE)
Duration – circa 4 to 6 months
Hybrid working – both office and home based working
Interviews will be taking place in late January 2024
Purpose of the role:
- Support the organisation’s Scotland Officers and the Manager in responding to critical policy influencing work areas in line with agreed priorities, including:
- College engagement on mental health law reform
- implementation of core health standards and development of service specifications for adult mental health services
- Response to various bill consultations
- Work with Officers to draft and publish high-level commentary pieces that support our policy influencing.
- Develop the organisation’s member communications to promote better awareness of Policy and public affairs work.
- Duties:
- Undertake analysis and research to develop evidence-based policy outputs as agreed with the National Manager
- Work with the National Manager to respond to critical policy influencing work areas in line with agreed priorities
- Attend and represent the organisation at relevant external meetings as events, as agreed with the National Manager
- Ensure the organisation’s views on mental health and other law reform in Scotland are conveyed and understood by relevant stakeholders, including;
- Supporting members engaged in workstreams emerging from the mental health reform programme
- Identify any emerging workstreams and ensure appropriate organisational input and influence
- Support the engagement on upcoming legislative activity including but not limited to the Assisted Dying Bill and ID, Autism and Neurodiversity Bill.
- Work with the Line Manager to influence Scottish Government, Health Boards & other stakeholders on matters relating to mental health funding in Scotland.
- Support the organisation to ensure Scottish members are equitably represented in the bodies engagement with the UK and Scottish Covid Inquiries.
Essential :
- Evidence of understanding of the government structures and the policy environment in Scotland and experience of delivering measurable change through influencing of stakeholders
- Strong interest in and experience of policy analysis, research and public policy development
- Knowledge of mental health policy in Scotland (desirable)
