Job description

Lower Wortley Primary School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Classroom Assistant to support our KS1 pupils, including those with SEND. This role will include supporting children with SEND on a 1:1 basis, general classroom support and also supervision of children outside at playtimes and lunchtimes.

Pay scale - B3 07-11 (£16,965.50 - £18,142.23 gross actual) Pay portability within this scale will be honoured for staff who already work for Leeds City Council

Hours per week: 30 hours 50 minutes (8.35am – 3.15pm each day with a 30 minute lunch break)

Temporary in the first instance, with the possibility to be made permanent 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Have GCSE Maths and English, grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
  • Have a kind, caring and compassionate nature to enable effective relationships with all children but particularly be able to build positive relationships with children with SEND.
  • Be able to work effectively and flexibly within a staff team both within a class base and across the key stage.
  • Have recent experience of working with KS1 children.
  • Previous experience of supporting children with SEND is desirable but not essential.
