This full-time position is available from early March on a permanent basis. We are looking for a Test Analyst to join our team, with responsibility for designing test cases and scenarios, executing tests and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose. You will need to be a thorough and methodical worker and will often need to act as the central liaison point for testing progress and defect management, working closely with business users, project managers and developers. A good technical understanding will be required for automated testing and to test some of the more complex applications (i.e. web service testing or IT component testing) with scripting/development experience highly desirable. Duties will include: Implementing a structured approach to testing activities for new IT applications and services including story analysis, regression, system integration, exploratory testing, and defect reporting/root cause analysis, verifying fixed issues, and maintaining traceability of test results. Developing and maintaining automated tests and investigating any issues found. Responsible for liaising with key stakeholders in Colleges and Professional Services, conducting interviews to develop a solid understanding of the business use cases and then translating these into robust test cases and scripts, and optimising availability of testing resources. Developing test documentation, specifications, detailed reports and other communications to provide direction to developers and test resources including business stakeholders, and to inform the preparation of future application documentation to reduce the impact of application defects. In the role of Subject Matter Expert, provide testing expertise in IT projects and collaborate with other Solutions Delivery Teams in the planning of new IT applications and services. Supporting cross functional and rapid application development testing in DevOps, Agile and traditional Waterfall development environments, including the migration of legacy technologies onto new cloud-based platforms. Researching and utilising best practice in testing including processes, tools and techniques for on-premise and SaaS solutions, and support the creation and operation of automated testing routines. You will ideally have: Recent experience of testing information systems, platforms and IT digital services, demonstrating working knowledge of appropriate theories and best practices. Experience of automated testing software and test management tools (e.g. Selenium, Jira). Experience of writing, executing and analysing performance tests. Proven experience of managing relationships, evidencing ability to break down barriers and building beneficial working relationships. Experience of web/web service standards (e.g. SOAP, REST, XSLT, JSON, XML). Knowledge of software development methodologies and an understanding of web service testing. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills demonstrating ability to understand complex conceptual ideas and experience in conveying information to senior stakeholders. A good understanding of software design principles. Experience of working in an Agile DevOps environment (desirable).
