WHAT TO EXPECT


The Prototype Assets Test Development team is growing and plays a major role in planning and delivering prototype assets to enable the wider engineering functions to conduct their Design Verification testing.


As part of this multi-talented team, you will support the Lead Engineer to integrate end to end planning and delivery of the prototype test assets for JLR vehicle programmes.


As JLR increases its Digital Prototype and Testing activities, this role will be at the forefront of championing and deploying JLR's strategy for less reliance on vehicles and more reliance on simulation and rigs to carryout DV.


This role will involve working with multiple stakeholders within the Agile Methodology to collaborate and construct an integrated and optimised test plan to deliver robust product on time to the right quality and budget.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


• To support in constructing and monitoring the physical product test requests (Software, Electrical and Mechanical) to create and optimise prototype end to end test plan for whole of the programme.

• Coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders within JLR and challenge them for justifications and promote use of rigs and digital simulation where possible to enable cost savings through producing less prototype vehicles.

• Facilitation of stakeholders workstream plans creation plus looking for dependency and timing disconnects. Resolving issues by engaging with stakeholders at working levels.

• Support Prototype builds as required in implementing vehicle camouflage strategy and to ensure vehicles are built on time and to agreed quality standards in order to handover and allow Users to execute their DV plan.

• To co-ordinate software & hardware updates of prototype fleet to enable Users to test on latest SW & HW.

• Manage the prototype vehicle fleet ensuring minimum downtime by planning and executing rework activities and maximum utilisation of vehicles. Support re-use planning and de-fleeting of the prototype vehicles.

• To organise and work with cross-functional teams to deliver Design Verification activities on time, and within budget to meet the required quality of event.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


• Experience of project planning and delivery experience within New Product Introduction.

• Good working knowledge of whole vehicle systems, product design, requirements, attributes & verification.

• Excellent PC skills such as MS Excel and other MS office tools preferably with Planning tools

• Demonstrate strong verbal, written and presentation skills across diverse teams and to all levels.

• Experience of technical analysis and demonstration of employing best-in-class processes wherever possible

• Working knowledge of prototype virtual, rigs and vehicle testing and test management tools

• Ability to work with technical data and present it to enable decision making.

• Strong desire to learn and present data to challenge status quo.

• Relevant HND/degree or equivalent experience preferred.

• Full UK Driving Licence

• Experience of working in the Automotive or other relevant Engineering industry
