Job description

Our client, a Ministry of Defence partner in the UK, is seeking an experienced Test Equipment Requirements Engineer to play a key role in the development and delivery of their products to customers. They operate across all operational commands, including land, naval, airborne, and novel capability domains, ensuring their systems remain at the forefront of defence capability.

As a Test Equipment Requirements Engineer, the successful candidate will be part of our client's team that specialises in providing physical design coherency across Weapon Systems for all phases of the development cycle and will ultimately be responsible for the system elements their end users interact with. Weapon System Equipment has transformed product delivery through its innovative initiatives. They are seeking engineers to join their expanding team who are eager to learn and grow their network in the field.

What we're looking for:

The main responsibility of this role is to gather top-notch requirements for Test Equipment that is used in both electronics and software development labs, as well as in the manufacturing environment. To accomplish this, you will need to gather the needs of various stakeholders and organise the requirements in alignment with the Test and Testability Leads' product strategy.

Experience with DOORS or similar tools and product lifecycle design is highly beneficial.

What you'll get to do as a Test Equipment Requirements Engineer:

The Test Equipment and Testability mission is to:

  • The team develops world-class test solutions, environment simulators, and emulators for both our clients and their customers' armed forces.
  • The successful candidate will contribute to the international weapon system Test Equipment strategy, balancing technology reuse with emerging trends and the UK perspective.
  • Utilise Weapon System Test Equipment and Testability Strategies on new programs and through-life enhancement upgrades.

For this role, you should be able to demonstrate your ability to:

  • Define precise requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and understand interface specifications for interfacing subsystems.
  • To understand the role of automated and semi-automated Test Equipment in verifying and manufacturing electronic equipment.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers from diverse backgrounds, including Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing.
  • Capture transversal engineering partner needs (e.g. Safety, Cyber, Human Factors, Customer Support Services, etc)
