Job Title: Test Manager
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland
Working Model: Hybrid (travel to office is required at least 2 - 3 times a week)
Duration: 6 months minimum with further extensions applicable
Daily Rate: up to £577 Umbrella
Inside IR35 via Umbrella: Paystream, Danbro, Focused

As a Test Manager / Lead, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties to a high level of competence:

  • Test Management: Produce Detail Test Plans. Allocate the testing for themselves and the team. Attend management meetings as required. Coordinate all testing activities F2B across the project for all testing types as mentioned above. Ensure clear roles and responsibilities are defined across the test work streams across all test phases.
  • Manage Communications: Build cohesive relationships with stream partners in the Data Domains, Business areas, and upstream primary trading systems plus project management and Programme Test Management. Ensure the testing strategy is cohesively delivered as a working partnership across these areas.
  • Test Planning and Test Design: Work with project delivery partners (BA, SA, Developers) and business stakeholders to ensure test plans and schedules are approved and design of test scripts are reviewed by SME and business. Planning end to end testing across the Pod's Vs the business requirements. Clearly documenting Integration and component testing end to end detailing systems and interface touch points.
  • Test Execution: Manage test execution as per schedule, prioritising tests as required. Ensuring acceptance criteria is clearly defined and followed when executing test scripts.
  • Defect Management: Ensure defects logged in the appropriate defect management tool (QC or JIRA) contain sufficient information to speed up resolution. Manage the triage process ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Risk Management: Ensure timely identification of risks and appropriate mitigation plan
  • Early Engagement: Ensure Testing are engaged early on projects, providing estimates of the work effort.
  • Resource planning: Working with the PMO to ensure demand vs supply for test allocations on projects is planned in time for project commencement. Ensure efficient use of resources according to location strategy.
  • Test Environment Management: Coordinate the F2B usage of test environments and integrate our testing with the internal testing of the reporting hub area and the external platforms. Ownership of escalation of environmental issues on behalf of test users
  • Adherence to Change Framework - Ensure Test Strategy, Test Phase Completion Certification and Test Phase Planning are followed with best practice and relevant standards in place.
  • Testing Methodologies & Models - Participate in the development of the testing methodologies/ model and ensure adherence to this MSS standards
  • Testing Improvements - Work to drive forward improvements in testing process including automation of testing, regular reviews and improvements to testing processes
  • Test Reporting - Burn down reporting to demonstrate progress against requirements to all stakeholders. End to end reporting on defects, integration testing.

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE

  • Test Management in the Banking Industry for 5 years minimum. If you have projects on your CV which are similar, then these should be highlighted and flagged to us on your covering letter.
  • Working with internal and external teams to deliver a single unified testing strategy - examples will be required.
  • Management of both local and offshore testing resources
  • UAT Coordination as well as IT Testing will be expected.
  • Evidence of quality improvement within a project stream - examples will be required
  • Usage of Quality Centre and JIRA.
  • You must come across as an effective, confident, assertive communicator who we deem capable of building strong relationships with our business and internal / external teams.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE (note - these aspects are important and could help in the overall decision making process)

  • Has worked within Investment banks prior across a number of asset classes (Equities, FX, Commodities, Interest Rates, Credit & ETD) in the testing domain
  • Can demonstrate projects which have involved hands on testing as well as management
  • Can demonstrate the coordination of environment usage F2B and non functional test coordination
  • Experience of working with data domain projects.
  • Experience of interfacing with areas who are AGILE based and linking in non AGILE testing into AGILE sprints.
  • An understanding of trade lifecycle covering trade, valuations, collateral & positions
  • Experience of implementing a test automation strategy to enable continuous testing in a DevOps environment.

Other skills :

ISEB Software testing qualification would be beneficial at either foundation or practitioner level
