Empower Futures: Join the Governing Board at Tettenhall Wood School

Tettenhall Wood School, a proud member of the Amethyst Academies Trust, is seeking two passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Governing Board as voluntary governors. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the governance of a special school dedicated to providing exceptional education and support to students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Play a critical role in realizing the school's ambitions, recognizing future opportunities, and tackling challenges.
•    Provide appropriate challenge and support to the school's executive team.
•    Contribute to the approval of the school's mission, strategic vision, key performance indicators, and school improvement priorities.
•    Ensure the establishment and monitoring of systems of control and accountability.
•    Engage with parents and the local community to ensure the school meets local needs.

We're Looking For:
•    Individuals with a commitment to education and lifelong learning.
•    A clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding young people.
•    Strong interpersonal, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
•    Experience in governance, or a strong willingness to learn and contribute.

Commitment:
•    Unpaid/voluntary position, with reasonable pre-agreed domestic travel expenses reimbursed.
•    Minimum of 80% attendance at formal meetings is expected.

Hours: 

There are three formal Board meetings per year in addition to Committee meetings, with governors usually assigned to a committee on appointment. In addition, there will be one away day per academic year and other ad hoc events. Board meetings will take place at school, while Committee meetings may operate more remotely at times.
