About the Role

Base Location: Medway (Rochester), Atwick/Aldbrough (East Yorkshire), Peterhead, Great Island (County Wexford, ROI)

Salary: circa £12,037 UK/ circa 17,000 euro ROI plus a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

Start date: autumn 2024

About the role:

Thinking about life after school or perhaps a change in career? Maybe you enjoy fixing things or prefer being outdoors and doing hands-on practical work? Perhaps you are looking for an opportunity to learn a new skill? This Apprenticeship Programme offers you the chance to earn whilst you learn new skills.

This is a 4-year programme (1st year at a partner college) and remaining 3 years at an SSE Thermal site, with college day release working towards, NVQ, B-Tech and HNC. You will be combining academic study (20%) with work-based experience (80%). You will be trained to repair, test, inspect, calibrate and maintain equipment within the Power Station of your chosen discipline. Once qualified and competent, you will be responsible for supervising other working parties, including contractors.

You will be supported throughout your programme by a wide number of colleagues including mentors, Learning and Talent support staff and business operational colleagues. You will be provided with on the job training and supported by our academic training partners. The majority of our apprentices attend college on a block release basis and can be away from home for short periods of time. You will be supported fully during this time.

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have formal qualifications and accreditations that will offer you the opportunity to build a rewarding and successful career in the energy sector.
