Your new company

  • This is a globally operating, highly recognisable insurance company who are looking to recruit a Third Party Vendor Manager to create and implement a risk management framework for critical, material Third Party providers across the UK arm of the business. The company are multinational, with a major presence across Europe and the UK, owning a number of different insurance and reinsurance businesses within the group. They also employ over 10,000 employees along with an operating income of over £3bn, and are regarded as being a fun, collaborative and modern environment to work in. This role reports to the Head of Operations Management on a flexible, hybrid basis in Manchester.


Your new role
As a \'Third Party Vendor Manager\', you will be required to manage relationships with key, critical third-party vendors that are of particular importance to the implementation of the business strategy across the group in the UK. This will include establishing, managing, and supporting the development, implementation and embedding of an effective Third Party vendor management framework ensuring consistency across the group and regulatory requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring third-party providers (both internally and externally) are managed strategically and operationally in line with service levels agreed to support business strategy.
  • Working closely with internal teams, such as Operations, Risk, Central Procurement, IT, Legal, Compliance, ESG and other business functions to participate in due diligence exercises on external suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain a database of third-party vendors against which to check suitability and performance.
  • Providing the business with effective and timely management, oversight and advice for third parties throughout the life cycle from onboarding to monitoring of service level performance, along with contingency planning when required.
  • Support the onboarding of third parties on a risk-based approach and in line with the Third Party Risk Management policy.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Manager as part of operational loss event management where a Third Party is involved.
  • Contributing to regular and ad-hoc reporting to various stakeholders of the group. Including monthly activity updates to the respective legal entity Executive Committee.
  • Support with internal audit or regulatory reviews / deep dives into Third Party risk management as may be required.


What you\'ll need to succeed

  • Ideally, a minimum of five years experience in a similar position, such as managing Third Party vendors or group-wide procurement for a large, regulated business or similar.
  • Ideally, a good or general understanding of insurance companies, or regulated industries such as financial services, with experience gained covering PRA, FCA and/or Lloyds requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Third Party, or internal/external risk management within a large business.
  • A relevant university or professional degree within risk or compliance.
  • Based within a commutable distance from Manchester, to work on a hybrid basis in Manchester City Centre 2 days per week.
