Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Thought Leadership specialist to join a leading international legal practice with a truly global presence on a 12 Month fixed term contract basis.

The firm’s highly regarded business development, marketing and communications team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which include supporting partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced Law Firm among the global elite. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors and clients. The role holder will be joining the content and campaigns team which has a global remit to deliver to the market the firm’s best strategic thinking, knowledge and expertise through high-quality marketing campaigns. The team leads on multichannel campaigns, from ideation to execution, delivery and analysis, across a variety of firm and client priorities. The team is also responsible for creating and embedding content and channel strategy, as well as campaign best practice and processes, across the firm. Working closely with the Global Head of Content and Campaigns and wider content and campaigns team, the successful applicant will be critical to the successful execution of client facing, high impact, issues-led and brand aware marketing campaigns for the firm’s market-leading practice and sector groups. The firm has deep expertise and works on some of the biggest and most complex matters in the world. On a day-to-day basis, you will be tasked with interviewing individuals to draw out their knowledge and experience, writing articles, blogs and white papers and working with the relevant subject matter experts to edit and refine the content for publication. You will work with the Global Head of Content and wider team to agree broad themes for interviews, but must also be able to work independently and carry out your own research in order to conduct effective interviews. In addition, the Thought Leadership Writer will write a range of other content types, including website copy, social media posts, event roundups, op-eds, video scripts and speeches, and will edit content written by others for readability, clarity, structure and house style. Working with colleagues in other teams to launch Thought Leadership content to clients and the market will also represent a key area of focus.

Highly organised and able to work independently to deadlines, juggling multiple projects and delivering under pressure, the ideal candidate will possess excellent writing and editing experience, preferably gained whilst working in a similar role within a Law Firm or other professional services organisation. The Thought Leadership Writer will have sound news judgement, a strong ability to master new subjects quickly and a sophisticated understanding of content marketing concepts and their application in an international B2B context. With a deep understanding of business, geopolitics, trade, economics and current affairs, and the role of corporate Law Firms in cross-border commerce, applicants must be able to demonstrate exceptional journalistic skills, including the ability to commission thought-provoking research, interpret data, conduct compelling interviews and write high-quality, engaging copy. The ability to build a personal network and influence people at all levels diplomatically will also be key to success.
