Temporary Support Worker

 

Rose House, Hartlepool

 

£11.52

 

20 hours per week – Various shifts over a 7 day period with occasional sleep ins

 

 

We have an opportunity for an experienced Part Time Support Worker to join our team on a Temporary position for up to 12 months.

 

We are excited to be introducing a new supported living service to Sanctuary. Rose House in Hartlepool, provides person centred support to young people aged 16-25 as they transition from the care system to moving onto live independently.

 

The aim of our service is to support our customers to develop the skills and confidence to live independently by offering support with tenancy and money management, encouraging employment/education and promoting daily living skills.

We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as ongoing training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. We have our own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

The position of Support Worker is referred to internally at Sanctuary as Project Worker.

 

The role of Support Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training, and employment
  • Supporting customers in their day to day living i.e., with cooking and cleaning
  • Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
  • Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working with people who have experienced mental health issues
  • Sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management
  • Good understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Experience in support planning, key working, and risk management plans
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and to react effectively under pressure
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
