Tool Maker (Belfast) (£40K)

Are you an experienced Tool Maker who has worked with precision manufacturing companies? This is a great opportunity to join a local company with a presence all over the globe.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design and production teams to interpret technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Utilise manual and CNC machinery to fabricate, modify, and repair precision tools, dies, and fixtures.
  • Operate precision measurement instruments such as micrometres, calipers, gauges, and optical comparators to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure consistent performance and longevity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Continuously improve tooling processes and techniques to optimise efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, changes made, and materials used.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
  • Work collaboratively to meet production goals, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Occasional lifting of heavy objects and prolonged periods of standing may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant; technical/vocational training in toolmaking, machining, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Toolmaker or similar role, with a strong understanding of precision machining and toolmaking processes.
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machinery, including lathes, mills, grinders, EDM machines, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of various tool steels, materials, and heat treatment processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and practices.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques.
  • Time management skills to effectively manage part-time hours and contribute to the team's goals.
