Job description

About the Role

Base Location: Portsmouth / Flexible but will be required to cover various locations in the South of England.

Salary: £31,339 - £35,892 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Onsite

We have an exciting opportunity for a Linesperson to join our teams based in South of England.

About the Department

Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.

What is the Role?

In this role, you'll mainly work as part of a team carrying out various overhead line inspections and maintenance whilst also carrying out work on construction projects on the 33kV & 132kV overhead line network.

- You'll be responsible for the safety of yourself and colleagues, and act as an ambassador for a strong safety culture in everything you do.

- The role can be demanding, and you'll be required to respond quickly to emergency situations; we want to provide the best possible service to our customers in their time of need.

- In addition, the role will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions and there may also be a requirement to undertake standby duties. There may also be a requirement for the successful candidates to stay away from home depending on job location.

What do I need?

To ensure you get the most from your role, it would be beneficial if you have the following:

- Previous experience and knowledge of working at heights.

- Previous examples and knowledge of working outdoors in all weather conditions.

- Previous experience and knowledge of 33kV & 132kv overhead line tower work.

- A relevant qualification, SSE or equivalent DNO Operational Authorisations would be advantageous (but not essential as training for this can be provided), or Tower Rescue experience would all be a great advantage too.

- You will need a full UK driving license for the position.

Whilst the above skills and experience are important, we also have several personal competencies that we look for in our future employees; a high regard for safety, embedding yourself in our safety culture and adhering to guidelines in everything you do is a key priority, strong communication skills and an ability to convey technical aspects in a transferable manner, enthusiasm and drive with a flexible approach to work and an ability to adapt to changing business and project priorities.
