Position Summary

The Track Supervisor is responsible for supervising all work activities of Track Maintenance personnel in performing preventive maintenance and repair of mainline and yard tracks, special track work, switch machines, running rail, structures, reaction rail, power rail, drainage, walkways, and fencing.  Supervisors and track personnel are required to operate and maintain heavy diesel rail equipment, rail grinder, UniMog, Rail King, Speeder and cranes, etc. 

 

Day-to-day tasks:

  • Accountable for supervising corrective & preventive maintenance for mainline & yard tracks, switch machines, running rail, structure, reaction rails, power rails, drainage, walkways & fencing.
  • Plan work schedules to ensure proper support for track maintenance, and schedule employees and contractors. 
  • In all work situations ensure compliance with safety regulations & safe work practices, including Safety Directive and Site Warden mandates.  Verifies completed work meets acceptable safety and quality control standards.
  • Evaluate & train Track Maintenance personnel to ensure the required level of technical and safety knowledge are maintained.
  • Ensure data entries into MAXIMO are accurate and complete.

 

Qualification:

  • Graduation from High School or equivalent with specialized training in electrical and mechanical experience; or Journeyman electrician with mechanical.
  • 5 years of track maintenance experience and supervisor experience in a union environment.
  • Track, guideway structure, heavy equipment used to maintain rails, switch machines and intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office and Windows Operating Applications. Familiarity with FRA Class IV regulations a plus.
