Trade Compliance Manager Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE Excellent Benefits We are looking for an experienced Trade Compliance Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong background in UK customs compliance and import/export control. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for internal customers and UK and Ireland Customs brokers, ensuring compliance and efficient handling of all customs-related activities. Day-to-day of the role: Act as the primary point of contact for internal customers, building strong relationships and understanding their business and service needs. Liaise with Customs authorities and stay informed about changes in policies or procedures. Manage compliance for imports and exports, adhering to international policies, procedures, and legislation. Review and ensure the correctness of paperwork for shipments, including dispatch notes, commercial invoices, and other legal documents. Issue clearance instructions to brokers and freight forwarders for timely delivery. Manage customs processes such as TA, SR, Carnet ATA, and RGR, ensuring correct utilization of special regimes and payment of duties. Review monthly Bills of Discharge for customs special regimes and document import & export processes. Ensure full trade customs compliance as per legislation in the UK. Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders for smooth execution of end-to-end shipments. Counsel internal customers on tariffs, insurance, and quotas. Support logistics processes in response to customer orders and enquiries. Liaise with finance to resolve invoice queries and carry out monthly management checks for HMRC compliance. Analyze customs duty exemptions and free trade agreements to reduce costs. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proficient computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft packages. PowerBi knowledge is a plus. SAP experience is desirable. Ability to manage multiple systems, projects, and priorities effectively. Self-driven with high analytical and conceptual thinking and excellent interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, creative, and able to work on own initiative. Passionate about compliance with in-depth knowledge of UK Customs laws and regulations. 3-5 years' work experience in UK customs compliance, import and export control. Experience with customs regimes utilization and management, HMRC audits, and process improvement initiatives. Experience in clearance broker, transportation, and/or freight forwarding is desirable.
