Henderson Wholesale is a leading Wholesaler in Northern Ireland and supplies goods to over 450 stores across various brands such as SPAR, EUROSPAR and VIVO. We source from local farmers, growers and producers and are proud to contribute to our local economy and environment. Our innovative team within Henderson Wholesale are adding to their team and are now accepting applications for a newly created and hugely rewarding Trading Manager opportunity.

Based at our main site in Mallusk this highly exciting and fast paced position and will award the successful applicant with an opportunity to really develop their career as a Trading specialist within one of the country’s largest home-grown employers.

Reporting directly to our Head of Trading the successful applicant will have primary responsibility for establishing and executing agreed category strategies along with operational accountability for the performance of their allocated category.


This role will be very well suited to an enthusiastic commercial trading professional who is ready to further their career within the FMCG industry.


Working as Trading Manager you will:


  • Liaise with the supplier base in relation to annual terms, promotional planning, pricing and range management.

  • Strive to increase supplier profitability in line with the company targets.

  • Work with the replenishment team in maintaining company targets on availability and stock holding.

  • Maximise profitability through stock appreciation.

  • Maintain product information on the computer system as required.

  • Ensure the clearance of short-dated products and overstocks with company guidelines.

  • Deal with customer/supplier/colleague enquiries relating to product availability.

  • Liaise with the sales department in relation to new product range presentations and requests.

  • Pro-actively respond to market trends and customer needs.


Skills for Success


Joining us as Trading Manager the minimum criteria you’ll need is:


  • A good general standard of education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.

  • At least three years’ experience in a commercial role at middle or senior management level in the FMCG sector

  • Strong commercial knowledge of the FMCG marketplace.

  • Significant experience in participating in supplier negotiations.

  • Full and valid driving licence.

  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.

  • A third level qualification/management qualification.

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am-4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday. Hybrid and flexible working arrangement available.
