The role starts on the shop floor and progresses through several stages:
- introduction to basic operation of CNC machines
- Basic setups of CNC, the use of fixtures and jigs, and the loading of programs
- tool technology, care, mounting, and loading of high-value tooling
- Understanding cutting principles
- The use of CAM software (SolidCam) to program parts
- CAD software (SolidWorks) to draw parts and features
- The creation of jigs, fixtures, and holding devices
- Experience with various CNC machines
Training will be given to the successful candidate in the following:
General Duties:
- Loading CNC machine and semi-automatic machinery
- Changing machine programmes
- Changing fixtures and jigs over
- CAD and CAM associated with the role
- Organising work area
- Associated duties involved in the production of CNC components
- Timber preparation
- Meeting daily production targets
- Achieving required quality standards
- Working in a safe manner
- Physically fit
- Self-motivated
- High level of common sense
- Good team worker
- Focussed
- Can do attitude
- Computer savvy
- Practical and hands-on
- Can follow operating procedures and quality standards (training will be given)

- Good with hands and has good hand/eye coordination

Salary: £8.60 -£11.44 per hour DOE
