Ness Bank Dental Practice are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Dental Nurse, to join our friendly, well-established and approachable team.
Our proudly independent practice treats Private, NHS and Highland Dental Plan patients. (Knowledge of the dental environment would be desirable but not essential).
The successful candidate must be willing to demonstrate the highest levels of patient care and have the ability to work on their own initiative, as well as part of a team. They must be committed to their training schedule and create a positive, progressive learning environment for themselves as they work through the training process and necessary modules.
There are no late night or weekend commitments but study outside of work hours will be encouraged.
Once qualified, GDC registration is paid by employer.
Primary Responsibilities
Along with the official training/study/assessments that will allow you to work towards your Dental Nurse qualification ( approved and authorised by SQA, providing SVQ level 3 in Dental Nursing) you will have hands on experience in surgery, and our local decontamination unit. Support, guidance and mentoring will be given at all times by qualified staff.
During your training you will learn about all aspects of dental nursing and as your training develops you will be expected to:
- Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions.
- Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
- Provide chairside assistance
- Ensure the care and welfare of patients
- Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed by the dentist
- Comply with all health and safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal etc.
- Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted
- Ensure computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored
- Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
- Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice (including receptionist duties)
- complete any training (in addition to your Dental Nurse training) relevant to the position
- Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR
