Job description

Do you want to work in a world class toolroom helping to create the tools that produce the best fantasy miniatures in the world?

Would using the latest 3D Tooling software to ensure error free digital design files appeal to you?

Working as a part of a team that contributes to making world class miniatures, this is a computer based role and involves using a Haptic Device (Geomagic TouchX) and Freeform software. This device is normally used within a design environment, but for this role it is purely used for tooling preparation purposes only (this is not a design role).

Working with other team members, Tool Design Engineers and Studio designers your goal is to output high quality optimised machinable cavities to a schedule.

Our Toolroom receives product designs from the Studio that have been designed to be manufactured in plastic. Your role is to optimise these models for our Tooling process by discussing and making adjustments to ensure its accurate production into a steel mould tool while keeping to the initial designs.

After this is complete you will then prepare each part for splitting into the 2 required cavities and produce surfaces to aid the machining process, all the time checking that it is going to be machinable.

The final process is to check each other’s work and to export the parts for the next process, in which our Tool Designers make the injection mould tool.

You will be responsible for producing error free digital files, ensuring the files represent what the Miniature Designers intended, whilst at the same time meeting the standards necessary for them to be used in an injection mould tool. To be successful in this role, you will need to build great relationships and have the right conversations, with the right people, at the right time

If you have a keen interest in Engineering, thrive on new challenges and enjoy working in an environment where you will be expected to continually challenge what you do and to improve it, then we want to hear from you!

Intensive training is provided and it can take over a year to be competent in this role.
