Role: Trainee Medical Technician

Contract type: Permanent, Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week

Purpose:

TVS are operating as part of Team Leidos, a team of defence and logistics specialists, supporting a major transformation contract, providing an end-to-end supply chain service, delivering commodity and inventory savings to the UK Ministry of Defence.

The medical commodity team provide a customer facing, technically focussed support to the supply of medical consumable products to the MOD. They deliver product introduction and management, ensuring regulatory compliance for the end customer, the MOD, making a difference to the efficiency of our Armed Forces.

The Trainee Medical Technician role will be working as a part of this team, liaising with MOD subject matter experts, defining their requirements, and providing the specification configuration control of medical consumable products.

This is a hybrid role based at offices in Emersons’ Green at least one day a week, with the rest of the time working from home. This can change depending upon the demands of the contract, so you need to be comfortable with the commute should you need to be present in the office more frequently.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Customer relationship management

· Communication with MOD subject matter experts helping to define their medical consumables requirements, assisting with the introduction of alternate products and clinical acceptance where applicable.

· Support product recalls, alerts and safety notices issued by industry and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Data Management

· Assist with the maintenance of an in-house, electronic technical catalogue, including pack sizes, source of supply, and anticipated increases in demands.

· Maintain and improve quality standards of data held in the product data database and supporting excel spreadsheets

· Liaising with manufacturers to confirm extent of supply issues and implementing alternative solutions where practicable.

Product assurance

· Assist with new item introduction, including item definition, acquisition safety management and product quality assurance.

· Support identification of alternate suppliers, confirming they meet regulatory and certification requirements

· Visit suppliers and attend relevant industry meetings and exhibitions to maintain and enhance product knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

· The Trainee Medical Technician will Ideally have some formal qualification, from A level up to Degree level or equivalent, that relates to the medical profession, nursing or veterinary science.

· The role would also suit a recent graduate in a science related degree such as pharmaceutical, biomedical or forensic science.

· The position needs someone with a common-sense approach to catalogue data structures, with good excel and IT skills, ideally having experience with SAP based systems.
