How you'll make a difference

As a Recovery Officer, you will make a difference by ensuring the most efficient method of action required for liability orders in respect of Council Tax.  In addition you will also support the collection of Business Rates debts, overpaid Housing Benefit, Social Care assessed charges and general sundry invoiced debts.

You will be the first point of contact for the Recovery team for on-going resolutions.

What will you be doing?

  • On a daily basis, you will undertaking administrative requirements of determining Council Tax and Business Rate recovery.

  • You’ll make arrangements for payment of debts in accordance with legislation and with the guidance of senior revenues officers.
  • You will be giving advice to residents in person, by letter or telephone with regard to revenues issues providing a high level of customer care.

  • You will support the senior Recovery Officer at magistrates court.

What we need from you

  • It is essential for you to have three GCSE’s at grade C or above including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
  • You will have some experience in a similar environment with knowledge of Revenues administration.
  • You will need excellent communication skills both oral and in writing, demonstrating a high level of customer care skills.
  • You will be able to demonstrate the ability to understand, interpret and explain legislation.
  • A derisible would be for you to have knowledge of Council Tax and Business legislation practice.
