Are you looking to develop and deliver training for a market leader in Rolling Stock maintenance?

Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Training & Competence Lead for CAF Rail Services as they deliver the contract for maintenance with Edinburgh Trams.

The Opportunity

CAF Rail Services provide the electrical trams to Edinburgh Trams and are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the fleet, meaning the training of the technicians is pivotal to the successful delivery of the contract.

Working predominantly from their Gogar depot in Edinburgh, this role will be responsible for ensuring high levels of competence for the c. 40 technicians on site as well as designing and delivering new training. The Training and Competence lead will work closely with the Team Leaders and the Technicians to ensure assessments are being carried out and the team are maintaining a high level of competence.

Locations:

Gogar. There will also be requirements for ad hoc travel to other sites, most notably Polmadie in Glasgow.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective systems are in place to manage training & competence across all locations and a 90% (minimum) level of competence is maintained on all projects
  • Co-ordinate & support the planning of Training and re-certification of CAF Team Members, both Critical and Non-Safety Critical Staff
  • Analyse, forecast, plan and monitor the competency management activities and feedback to Operations Managers / Head of Compliance

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous experience devising and delivering technical training in an engineering environment; ideally Rolling Stock, aerospace, automotive or in the military.

A technical background is essential in order to effectively deliver the training to technicians who are all qualified to at least NVQ Level 3.

Essentials

  • Experience of electrical engineering
  • Qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience working in a Rolling Stock, Aerospace/Aircraft, Automotive or military environment.
  • A training qualification

Desirable

  • HNC/HND in engineering.
