An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NHS England North East for a Training Programme Director (TPD) / Educational Lead within the School of Public Health. The School brings local Faculty of Public Health officers, NHS England North East staff and Trusts together to ensure the effective organisation and delivery of Postgraduate Medical Education.
NHS England North East is inviting applicants for the above role. The TPD will be accountable to the Head of School and the Deputy Dean for Specialty Training and hence to the Postgraduate Dean. They will have defined responsibility for the management of doctors in training and the Training Programme within the School.
Start date: 1stApril 2024
Hours per week: 2 PAs (notional) per week
Remuneration: £20,500 per annum (fixed rate).

TPD responsibilities include:
• Manage the recruitment of trainees (including calculating vacancies, website information, participating in local / national career fairs, analysis of recruitment data)
• Manage the review process for trainees (including review panels, drafting paperwork / management reports for review appeals and presenting the specialty case at any appeal panels)
• Organisation of trainee rotations
• Ensure that the curriculum can be delivered within the local Training Programme.
• Develop a network of educational supervisors who may need to be trained in the necessary tools for reviewing trainees.
• Ensure completion of an annual specialty quality management report
• Provide careers information, guidance, and advice to trainees.
• Support doctors with differing/individual training needs
• Ensure that the interests of less than full time and academic trainees are accommodated.
• Attend regional and national meetings (potentially including School Board / STC / SAC)
Potentially arrange and participate in specialty / School visits to Local Education Providers
